Colonial Pasts, New Approaches and Historiographical Futures

From 4 to 6 March 2026, the GLOBALISE Conference will take place, with a pre-conference day on 3 March. The conference explores how digital methods and archival innovation are opening up new research into the archives of the Dutch East India Company (VOC) and contributing to new global and colonial histories.

Scholars from the Netherlands and abroad will discuss research methods, case studies and historiographical perspectives. The programme features keynote lectures by Ann Laura Stoler, Tonio Andrade and Matthias van Rossum, alongside panel sessions and round-table discussions.

The conference can be attended online. On-site participation at the International Institute of Social History in Amsterdam is limited; registration for the waiting list is available.

Further information and the programme (subject to change) are available on the GLOBALISE website.
