eCodicesNL: Online Reading Room for Medieval Manuscripts in the Netherlands

eCodicesNL is a digital portal that provides access to digitised medieval manuscripts from Dutch heritage institutions. The project is a collaboration between the Huygens Institute and other cultural institutions, with the aim of making the rich medieval heritage of the Netherlands accessible to a wide audience.

What is eCodicesNL?

eCodicesNL is a virtual reading room that unlocks medieval manuscripts from various Dutch collections. Visitors can browse through digital images of manuscripts, ranging from illuminated books of hours and Old Frisian legal texts to medical manuals and recipes, via a user-friendly search interface. This collection offers a unique insight into Dutch and European history, religion and science in the Middle Ages.
