Limburg charters full of medieval spectacle. But who can still read them?

Centuries-old Limburg Charters (legal documents) offer insight into medieval life in Maastricht. The knowledge needed to interpret such documents is dying out. Geertrui van Synghel of the Huygens Institute is the only person who still possesses this knowledge. She talks to Paul van der Steen of NRC about the disclosure of the Limburg Charters. And about the disaster at the Servaasbrug, when the dean, chapter brothers, choir singers, believers and the holy relics of the Church of Our Lady were just crossing the river Maas when the bridge collapsed.
