Gertjan Filarski studied both Business Economics in The Hague and Medieval & Ancient History at Leiden University. After working for more than fifteen years as (freelance) software engineer and project manager IT in commerce, he switched to an academic environment in 2010. At Huygens ING Gertjan leads a large number of experimental projects with a focus on new web technologies and digital humanities research. Through these projects he designs an overarching research data infrastructure which is connected to European humanistic networks (like e.g. CLARIN) and other international partners in the US and Canada. Gertjan also actively advices scholars writing research proposals and the institute’s executive board on IT policy. More information can be found at LinkedIn.
