Marnix van Berchum

Biography

Marnix van Berchum is account manager of Timbuctoo/Anansi (CLARIAH WP2), coordinating the
ingest of new data and aligning the developments around the different data entities in the system.

Marnix studied Musicology at Utrecht University, and specialized in musical culture of the 15th and 16th century. He graduated with a thesis on the motets of Jachet Berchem (c.1505-1567). In his PhD research he applies the concepts and methods of network theory on the dissemination of music in the sixteenth century. In previous jobs (a.o. at SURF and DANS) he acquired a wide range of experience in projects related to research data, Open Access, and ‘digital musicology’. Marnix is board member of the Royal Society for Music History of The Netherlands (www.kvnm.nl) and Associate Director of the CMME Project (www.cmme.org).
